Security Team Member Dies in Standoff with Dallas Police

A member of Democratic U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett’s security team was killed in a standoff with the Dallas police. According to local reporting, the security team member, Diamon Mazairre Robinson, went by the alias “Mike King.” Robinson used this fraudulent identity for years, and during this time, he operated security businesses.
Robinson’s true identity was revealed after the Irving police released a bulletin for a car with stolen government plates. A Dallas officer noticed the vehicle in question while working a security job with Robinson six months prior. Dallas police attempted to pull Robinson over on Mar. 11, and Robinson fled before being rediscovered in a hospital parking garage. An hours-long standoff ensued, ending after Robinson exited his vehicle with a drawn handgun and officers responded with gunfire, killing Robinson.
According to a social media statement released by Crockett, Robinson provided security services for the local community and even collaborated closely with law enforcement entities, such as the Capitol Police.
The statement asserts that this incident “highlights the loopholes and shortcomings” of the systems in place for vetting security staff.
DPD Deputy Chief William Kenneth revealed Robinson’s true identity was not discovered until after Crockett’s campaign for a U.S. Senate race Democratic nomination had concluded. Officials also stated that Robinson impersonated a federal officer by posing association with the “Specialty Dignitary Police,” a nonexistent agency.
Furthermore, Robinson had:
- Two active felony warrants related to theft
- Two vehicles with stolen government plates
- A parole violation
- Several stolen firearms
Nevertheless, Crockett stated Robinson fostered and sustained positive community relationships and never gave a reason to be suspected.
