A report by SecurityScorecard reveals that almost all Global 2000 companies (99%) are connected to a supply chain breach. The report asserts that the interconnected nature of modern business may be partially responsible for this, as a vulnerability in one part of the supply chain may have far-reaching consequences, potentially impacting an entire ecosystem. 

Key findings from this report include: 

• Supply chain breach incidents cost 17 times more to manage and remedy than first-party breaches. 
• It is estimated that Global 2000 breaches cost between $20 billion and $80 billion within 15 months. 
• 90% of Global 2000 companies act as vendors to each other, creating an interdependent ecosystem with concentrated risk.

20% of these companies utilize 1,000 or more products. Furthermore, at least 80% of Global 2000 companies use the top eight most widely employed vendors. Four out of the top five vendors on this list recently reported a breach.
