40M McDonald's Records Exposed Through Customer Data Platform

McDonald’s Indonesia exposed more than 40 million records via its customer data platform. 28 million of those were customer records, including names, emails, phone numbers and device IDs.
Customer data wasn’t the only information exposed — corporate data was also placed at risk, with more than 71,000 records regarding ad campaigns found in the database.
This exposure was discovered by the Cybernews team, who stated, “Affected individuals could face an increase in social engineering attempts via email or scam calls. Moreover, there is a risk of loyalty fraud because of exposed loyalty point transaction information.”
The database has since been closed, making it no longer accessible to the public.
