The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate and ASIS International (ASIS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the ASIS headquarters in Alexandria, Va., on Thursday, March 6, 2014. The agreement stipulates how DHS will work in partnership with ASIS to communicate the agency’s capability gaps, technology requirements, and outreach opportunities to its vendor and member communities in an effort to provide state of the art technological capabilities to its operating components and the nation’s first responders.
General Colin L. Powell, USA (Ret.) will share leadership insights gained over the course of 50 years in public service, when he delivers the keynote address at the ASIS International 60th Annual Seminar and Exhibits, Tuesday, Sept. 30 at the Georgia World Congress Center, in Atlanta, Ga. The keynote session is open to all registered attendees.
New York State Police Superintendent Joseph A. D’Amico will be named the ASIS 2014 Person of the Year Award at a special luncheon at noon on Friday, March 14, in New York City. The annual awards luncheon is part of the 24th New York City Security Conference & Expo, hosted by the ASIS NYC Chapter.
Richard “Rich” E. Widup, Jr., CPP, has advanced to the presidency of ASIS International. He is the 59th president of ASIS, and he currently serves as senior director, corporate security for Purdue Pharma, LP. Mr. Widup joined ASIS in 2000 and the ASIS CSO Roundtable, an exclusive forum for senior security professionals, in 2008.
Applicable to both private and public sectors, the Standard provides a methodology to evaluate and respond to a spectrum of threats to tangible and intangible assets on both a domestic and global basis, according to an ASIS.

Two weeks ago, ASIS International Seminar and Exhibits arrived in Chicago, bringing plenty of flash in its opening ceremonies, as well as plenty of possible security solutions on the show floor, as manufacturers seek to help enterprise security leaders get more from their existing investments in analog systems.
Geoffrey Craighead, 2013 President of ASIS International, opened the ASIS International Seminar and Exhibits on Tuesday morning with an extravaganza of music and art – speed painters illustrated the exhibition’s theme “Strategic. Smart. Secure.” with murals while a local cover band and brass band provided background music.
