Former law enforcement leader Carmen Best has been named Director of Global Security Risk Operations at Microsoft.

Best will lead the global virtual security operations team, as well as intelligence initiatives, event and travel security, and security risk operations, according to her LinkedIn.

Best has held roles throughout the security industry, including working her way up from the role of Police Officer at the Seattle Police Department (SPD) to Chief of Police, being the first Black woman to lead the department. Following her 28-year career at SPD, she held the Global Account Director position at Securitas Security Services USA, Inc.

Best has received multiple awards throughout her security career, including being named one of Security magazine's Most Influential People in Security in 2020.
