Dr. Annette Southgate has been named Director of Security at Cranfield University as Director of Security, in an initial three-year assignment period from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, where she is Deputy Director of Business Development for the U.K. Civil Service.

Southgate brings her information technology (IT) and management background to the new role at the university. Cranfield University, a public higher education institution in Cranfield, England, focuses on technology, defense and security education.

With a background in roles that led IT service delivery and program management, Southgate has years of experience working with the national and international security community. She has led a 14-year career in the U.K. Civil Service, holding positions spanning from the Head of IT Services Business to the Deputy Director role and others.
