Chris Lugo has joined the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) as the new Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).

Lugo is responsible for information security and privacy, business continuity, risk and compliance activities. As CISO, he will collaborate with the 35 Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies to coordinate information security policies, procedures and compliance activities.

“Data security platforms, and the technology behind them, are evolving and becoming more sophisticated every day — and so are the threats against them. It’s more important than ever to have a leader who can quickly anticipate and adapt to these changes,” said Kim Keck, President and CEO for BCBSA. “I’m excited to welcome Chris Lugo to the team, who will use his expertise to help protect the privacy and security of the BCBS System, our members and ultimately the health care system itself.”

Lugo brings extensive technical and leadership experience to BCBSA across multiple industries, including science and technology, hospitality and financial services. Prior to joining BCBSA, Lugo served as the Vice President and Global CISO of Danaher Corporation, where he oversaw the global information security, cyber, risk and compliance program across a diverse portfolio of more than 20 wholly owned operating companies.

Congratulations!
