The Chicago Public School district made the decision to not have uninformed Chicago police officers (or School Resource Officers) return to its high schools through the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year.

Chicago Public Schools' Chief of Security Jadine Chou cited reduced in-person attendance and less than two months of school remaining as reasons for the decision.

Though the district says the decision is temporary, police-free school advocates in the city are applauding the move.
