The New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness (NJOHSP) and New Jersey Regional Operations and Intelligence Center (NJ ROIC) launched New Jersey Shield on April 14, a program focused on strengthening information sharing and collaboration among the public and private sectors.

“NJOHSP will leverage New Jersey Shield as an additional avenue to connect with our public- and private-sector partners to help improve preparedness and resiliency within organizations Statewide,” said Jared M. Maples, Director of the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness. “As we continue to gather domestic and international intelligence and assess the evolving threat landscape, this program offers members information and resources aimed toward mitigating possible threats.”

New Jersey Shield partners with similar programs worldwide, providing a global network of intelligence to share and access easily from one site. The program is a free service that serves as a centralized location for members to obtain counterterrorism, cybersecurity, and emergency preparedness information and resources. This includes a member-only portal that contains:

• NJOHSP and NJ ROIC Analytical Products and Publications
• Partner Agency Intelligence Products
• Advisories and Alerts
• Training Resources and Upcoming Classes
• Resource Library
• Access to Partner Programs Globally

“The New Jersey Shield program empowers our private sector partners, because we encourage organizations to not only utilize this powerful online platform as a valuable resource, rather we invite businesses to join the team by becoming active participants,” said Colonel Patrick J. Callahan, Superintendent of the New Jersey State Police. “As the program enrollment grows, so will our ability to strengthen New Jersey’s homeland security and preparedness missions.”

“This program will foster enhanced information sharing among the public and private sectors, and we encourage members to share their subject matter expertise and best practices,” said Eric J. Tysarczyk, Director of Preparedness at the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness. “Identifying any preparedness and resiliency gaps, and accordingly working together to develop solutions, will strengthen the State’s overall resiliency.”

Federal, State, or local government representatives or law enforcement agents tasked with counterterrorism, cybersecurity, or emergency preparedness duties are eligible to become members, as are private- or public-sector managers tasked with duties related to their organization’s security, emergency management, and business continuity. A valid work email address must be used to create an account, and organizations can be granted multiple accounts.
