Texas schools eligible receive emergency preparedness software and hardware through grant partnership

Member colleges and school districts can apply for the Alertus Grant beginning February 1

February 9, 2021

Alertus Technologies, provider of emergency mass notification solutions, announced a partnership with the Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) to offer an emergency preparedness grant to Texas schools in need of enhancing their safety and notification systems. The grant, valued up to $75,000, will be offered to one qualified member of the TCEA.

“We believe all schools should have access to the mass notification tools needed to instantly spread awareness during a crisis and ensure school-wide safety,” said Ryan McGonigle, Director of Philanthropy at Alertus. “We are excited to once again team up with TCEA, an association that understands the value of technology and continues to use their platform to enhance the safety and success of schools in their membership.” Alertus and TCEA previously partnered in 2020 to award an emergency preparedness grant to the Moody Independent School District in Moody, Texas.

Alertus actively works to reach local and international communities that are insufficiently prepared for an emergency or disaster event. Through the Alertus Grants Program, organizations have the opportunity to enhance their emergency preparedness strategies with free hardware and software solutions from Alertus. This program is an extension of the Alertus Safe in Seconds initiative, which has provided over 700 non-profit organizations across the world with the Alertus Desktop Notification tool. Now in partnership with TCEA, Alertus will expand its grants program to support more K-12 schools and higher education institutions in need across Texas.

“As education faces new and unprecedented challenges in this era, it's more important than ever that our campuses and classrooms have access to efficient, customizable mass notification systems,” said TCEA Executive Director Lori Gracey. “By partnering with Alertus, we're giving educators, students, and parents the tools they need to stay informed."

To apply for the grant, applicants must be a TCEA member and a registered non-profit organization or a government entity such as a school, library, or public agency. Priority will be given to high- risk and high-need organizations.

TCEA members can apply via the TCEA website at https://tcea.org/about/partners/grants/alertus. Grant applications will be accepted until February 25, 2021.
