Colombian digital bank Nequi plans to offer account access completely through a user’s mobile device by using biometric authentication. According to a Planet Biometrics report, Nequi is using Daon’s IdentityX Platform for mobile biometric authentication, and it will be the first financial institution in Colombia to feature biometrics in live production.

Nequi customers will authenticate their login with a selfie whenever they change devices or SIM cards, reset passwords or reactivate an account. The bank will deploy facial recognition biometrics for mobile login as a gateway to their mobile application, and it will add voice recognition for an additional layer of modality.
