Time Warner Cable is sponsoring the ASIS 23rd New York City Conference and Expo, May 8-9, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in order to support those in law enforcement and the armed services.

According to a Time Warner Cable press release:

“As one of the country’s leading providers of TV, Internet and Phone services, Time Warner Cable has a strong interest in partnering with ASIS and the security industry to ensure that our information technology assets are protected by the latest technologies and the sharpest minds,” said Brian Allen, Group Vice President and Chief Security Officer for Time Warner Cable. “The men and women in law enforcement and the military are highly trained in all areas of security and the protection of vital assets, making them a natural fit for many companies. We are proud to sponsor this ASIS conference to help these skilled personnel learn how to successfully transition to the private sector.”

“I am enormously grateful for the hard work that law enforcement and military personnel do every day to keep our communities safe,” said New York State Senator Brad Hoylman. “We have a profound obligation to ensure these men and women have the resources to make the transition from public service to the private sector, and I applaud Time Warner Cable, ASIS and all of the sponsors for developing strategies in this regard.”

“ASIS has long been dedicated to supporting those actively serving in law enforcement or the military, as well as those who are preparing to or have transitioned into the security field. Our Law Enforcement Liaison Council and our Military Liaison Council serve as direct conduits to these security professionals and work to support their unique needs with information resources, networking and certification—all collectively aimed at the establishment of a solid reputation and successful career,” states ASIS President Geoffrey T. Craighead, CPP. “ASIS is grateful for the support of organizations such as Time Warner Cable. Partnerships like this make it possible for us to extend our knowledge resources to a broader audience and to facilitate valuable peer-to-peer engagement.”

As part of its sponsorship, Time Warner Cable will help present a program, “Making the Switch from Public Sector for Private Sector Security,” that is designed to help those leaving careers in law enforcement and the military and transitioning into the private sector security profession. The event, held May 8, will be followed with a networking luncheon.
