The Security Industry Association (SIA) announced that Kathleen Carroll, Director of Governmental Relations for HID Global, is the new Chair of the Government Relations Committee at the opening of the SIA Government Summit this morning.

“Kathleen served as the architect of SIA’s Privacy Framework and led the fight against restrictive state legislation to curb the use of security technologies,” said Don Erickson, CEO and former Government Relations Director of SIA in an association press release this morning. ”Kathleen has been an effective government relations leader for SIA and our industry.”

Currently, Carroll oversees HID Global's radio frequency (RF) technology privacy and policy initiatives, including pending legislation in all 50 states and national and international policies and regulations, the release says. She also works to support public policies addressing national identity management and cybersecurity initiatives.

Previously, she was the Chairperson of the SIA State Policy Advocacy Working Group, which works to educate legislators, business leaders and consumers about RF technology and its various benefits. She is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals, a Certified Information Privacy Professional and a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Government.

Carroll succeeds John Stroia of Will-Burt Company.
