Security Guard Assaulted in What Police Call a Hate Crime

A security guard was punched in the face twice, held in a chokehold and told to “go back to [his] country” in an attack police have labelled a hate crime.
The security guard, a 49-year-old man from Covina, was escorting two trespassers out of a Pasadena apartment complex when the attack occurred. One of the trespassers become verbally abusive before punching the guard twice, then placing him in a rear chokehold. The second trespasser then separated the guard and the suspect.
“Go back to your country,” the suspect said, creating the basis for classifying this as a hate crime.
The guard suffered pain to the back of his neck as a result.
The suspect, a white man in his 40s, was wearing a black blue line flag T-shirt.
