Washington’s Olympia Intercity Transit Selects Network Security Video
Verint Systems Inc., a provider of analytic software-based solutions for security and business intelligence, today announced that Washington’s Olympia Intercity Transit has selected its Nextiva™ Transit solution to enhance safety and improve overall operations on its fleet of municipal buses and vans.
Intercity Transit serves the communities of Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater and Yelm, Washington, offering public transportation services across 94 square miles. Intercity Transit’s 22 bus routes, door-to-door transportation service for people with disabilities, and sizable vanpool program provide four million rides annually. Over the past five years, the commuter-oriented system has seen ridership grow by 35-percent on its fixed-route system and has experienced significant growth to its Dial-A-Lift and vanpool operations as well.
As a key component of Intercity Transit’s service delivery standards, the Verint solution will help to enhance security initiatives, deter vandalism and theft, mitigate accident and liability claims, and enhance operational effectiveness.
“At Intercity Transit, our focus is on providing a customer experience that is safe, dependable, and enjoyable,” said Michael Harbour, General Manager of Intercity Transit. “Nextiva Transit is a comprehensive video solution that will allow us to enhance both security and operational concerns, and do so in a cost-effective manner.”
The Nextiva Transit solution will enable Intercity Transit to wirelessly transfer critical video and event information to a central monitoring station to improve passenger safety and enhance the agency’s ability to respond to operational issues and emergency situations. The solution will also be integrated with GPS and alarm systems, enabling more effective actionable intelligence.
