Major League Baseball has told its 30 teams they must implement security screening for fans by 2015, either with hand-held metal detection or walk-through magnetometers.
If you’ve never considered the safety risks of a professional security officer, placing them in a sporting venue where they are significantly outnumbered is an excellent research lab.
Russia began implementing stringent security measures Tuesday in Sochi, one month before the start of the 2014 Winter Olympics. According to CBSNews, tens of thousands of Russian police, security agents, rescue workers and army troops are being deployed from the games.
Three people were stabbed during a late-night scuffle outside Denver’s football stadium after the Broncos lost 27-20 to the San Diego Chargers on Thursday night, according to a CNN report. One of the victims is in critical condition, and police have three people in custody. A fourth person may have been injured in the incident in the parking lot next to Sports Authority Field at Mile High. That person left without seeking treatment.

Ray Whitworth has been appointed the Vice President of Operations and Security for Major League Soccer.
Whitworth has more than 30 years’ experience in law enforcement, and he most recently served as Head of Team and Corporate Security for the English Football Association (The FA), according to Tribal Football.
