Uber and the #WHATSMYNAME Foundation announced a partnership to help promote rideshare safety for college-aged students.

For the first time, Uber has released a safety report about its rides in the US that includes all of 2018 and part of 2017.

Ridesharing company Uber has lost its license to drive passengers in London.

At an event, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi unveiled a new vision for the rideshare app, which will focus on improving the safety and experience of Uber users and drivers. 

The South Carolina House has passed a bill to require rideshare vehicles to display illuminated signs, after a USC student died after getting into a vehicle she thought was her Uber ride.

Uber will soon run criminal background and driver history checks every year for all of its drivers. Uber emailed riders about three new safety programs, including the company’s commitment to ramped up driver screening, the Trusted Contacts ride-detail sharing, and 911 access from the Uber app.

Uber will require its drivers to snap periodic selfies to ensure they are who they claim to be.
