Research ranks U.S. 9th in invasiveness among countries using facial recognition technology
A report took a look at the widespread use of facial recognition technology, evaluating the 100 most populated countries and comparing their use of the tech in governments, police departments, airports, schools, banks, workplaces and public transportation.
The Comparitech report, gave the U.S. a score of 18 on a scale of 0-40 (0 indicating an invasive use of FRT, and 40 indicating no evidence or an outright ban on the technology), pairing it with Mexico for the 8th ranking in the top 10 list.
France, Hungary, Malaysia, and the United Kingdom ranked 7th, while Russia and China ranked 2nd and 1st, respectively.
