State Center Community College District (SCCCD) was formed in 1964 when it assumed control of Fresno City College and Reedley College. SCCCD serves approximately 1.7 million people and 38 unified and high school districts in more than 5,743 square miles of urban and rural California territory, including most of Fresno and Madera counties and portions of Kings and Tulare counties.

SCCCD encompasses four community colleges and two educational centers: Fresno City College, Reedley College, Clovis Community College, Madera Community College, Madera Community College at Oakhurst and the Career and Technology Center.

SCCCD is governed by a seven-member board of trustees who represent seven trustee areas. Total district enrollment for 2019-20 was over 68,000 students. SCCCD is a merit system district with over 2,745 faculty and classified staff represented by the California School Employees Association (CSEA) and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT).

With so many campuses, students and staff to protect, the SCCCD knew it needed an update to its current access control system and selected AMAG's Symmetry Security Management System to install throughout all campuses.

Using DCL Technology as the district's integrator, SCCCD's system includes AMAG’s Symmetry Access Control, Symmetry Intrusion and Symmetry Blue Bluetooth readers.

The project will begin with installations in buildings on two campuses, with the intent to deploy the solution throughout all SCCCD campuses. The expected completion time for the upgrade is three years.

“We chose the Symmetry platform because of its dynamic ability to meet our growing needs. Symmetry’s built-in intrusion system provided an added convenience for us as we did not have to look for a third-party intrusion system,” said SCCCD, Security System Specialist, Vincent Fries. “AMAG’s Symmetry Blue readers will also help SCCCD to transition to smart cards while allowing us to still use our current access cards.”
