A new video from the group Sandy Hook Promise shows school kids dealing with the threat of gun violence in everyday life.

The 67 second ad, titled “Back to School Essentials”, shows students using personal items and school supplies to survive an active shooter, including  using skateboard to shatter a window, a sock to wrap a wound and a jacket to secure a door.

“It’s back to school time, and you know what that means,” a caption in the ad reads. “School shootings are preventable if you know the signs.”

The video encourages viewers to learn more about the warning signs at the website for Sandy Hook Promise, the non-profit founded by parents of victims of the school shooting in Newtown, Conn.
