Ohioans can now report suspicious activity to the state’s Homeland Security agency with a new app that can be downloaded on mobile devices.

The state’s director of public safety says the Safer Ohio app for smartphones includes a “see something, send something” feature that lets users send photos to Homeland Security analysts.

Director John Born says public reporting of suspicious behavior and unusual activity is essential to protecting communities. The reporting system lets law enforcement or Ohio Homeland Security analysts engage with tipsters without tracking one’s location or storing personal information.

The application is free and available to Android and iPhone users.
