TSA Stopped 1,800 Guns at Airport Security in 2013

January 26, 2014

The Transportation Security Administration said its employees found 1,813 firearms last year, an increase of more than 250 over 2012.

Included in that number were 21 firearms taken at airports in New York and New Jersey.

 

  • The top airports for gun discovery were:

  • (ATL) - 111 Guns Discovered
  • (DFW) - 96 Guns Discovered
  • (IAH) - 68 Guns Discovered
  • (PHX) - 66 Guns Discovered
  • (DEN) - 51 Guns Discovered
  • A TSA spokeswoman says nearly 1,500 of the guns stopped nationwide were loaded when they were discovered.
