The SIA Securing New Ground (SNG) event has been moved to early November 2013 after the havoc wreaked by Superstorm Sandy, according to a press release sent out by SIA Thursday afternoon.

The following are excerpts from the press release:

“I would like to sincerely thank you for your membership in SIA and for your interest in SIA's signature event: Securing New Ground (SNG). After very careful deliberation, we have decided to hold SNG in early November 2013.

“Superstorm Sandy wreaked havoc on millions of lives. While SNG is an important event owned by SIA, it pales in comparison to the lives of those who were tragically affected by the storm and the businesses who continue to recover from this event.

“In making this decision, we were highly sensitive to many variables, and proactively sought input from all event stakeholders. In the end, we firmly believe that hosting SNG in 2013 at its regularly scheduled time will produce a conference that SIA members expect and deserve – a unique event that delivers high-powered networking and compelling program content for you.

“Having made this final decision, we can now respond individually and with purpose to all event stakeholders – registrants, speakers, and sponsors. We hope you can appreciate our decision and support our efforts. Over the next several months, we look forward to engaging you in our plans for the SNG conference next year and having you as a part of the most influential audience in the industry.

“We expect to build on the strong tradition of SNG as an elite industry event, by providing top-caliber industry executives, addressing current issues, all in an open forum of inspiring thought-leadership.

“In 2013, SNG will celebrate its 18th year and we will work harder than ever to make it the best one yet. Superstorm Sandy may have set us back this year, but with steel resolve and the support of our members, we are coming back stronger than ever.”
