Pentagon Data Breach Exposes Military Personnel

The Pentagon experienced a breach of its HR system, exposing sensitive information of current and past military personnel, including Social Security numbers. This breach has raised concerns about counterintelligence among experts of national security.
A vulnerable computer server belonging to the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) was accessed by unauthorized users last October; however, it wasn't discovered and remediated until July.
At this time, it is unclear how many individuals have been impacted. However, some reports suggest as many as 4 million personnel for the Department of Defense may be affected.
