Spokane Public Schools Faces Cybersecurity Incident
Yesterday, the Spokesman-Review reported that Spokane Public Schools was the victim of a cybersecurity incident. As of the latest report, online information systems remain down.
On Monday morning, families within the district were told the school had experienced a “network security incident.” In response, the district took down online systems as a cautionary measure, according to Superintendent Adam Swinyard.
“We chose to take those systems offline out of an abundance of caution, and we’ll work through our crisis response protocols to understand the scope,” Swinyard stated.
At this time, it appears only district staff were impacted by this event. It is too early to determine the extent of the affected information or who may be behind the incident.
