In this episode of Lock It Down with Security Magazine, I spoke with Dina Atwell, Director, Cyber Insider Threat Program Management at Capital One, about her career in the security industry.

In our conversation, Atwell discusses what led to her pursuing a career in security and growing the Capital One insider threat team from 12 people to 75.

"Looking back across my 15 or so years in insider threat, what has always drawn me to security is the human element," Atwell says. "I think that's what really interests me, and it's about understanding why people do what they do, whether those threats are intentional or accidental, and putting the right safeguards and behavioral insights in place to protect the organization and the people in it. And beyond the day-to-day operations, I'm also super passionate about mentoring, supporting first generation students, and advancing women in cyber groups."
