This Website Exposed ICE Data — Now, It’s Faced a Cyberattack

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has made headlines following the shooting of Renee Good in Minneapolis. Now, it is making cyber headlines.
Recent reports have revealed an online database has emerged, providing data on approximately 4,500 federal agents. This website, called ICE List, contains information on nearly 2,000 agents and 150 supervisors and includes comprehensive, personally identifiable information (PII) related to said individuals.
What Is ICE List?
According to the about section on ICE List, this website “is a public, verifiable record of immigration enforcement activity in the United States.” It is a project established by Crust News, and it being actively developed.
The website states that it “documents incidents, agencies, individuals, facilities, vehicles, and legal authorities involved in enforcement operations. Entries are structured, sourced, and timestamped to support verification, cross-referencing, and long-term analysis.”
On the website, there is a section where users can browse the ICE List, including by agent and officer name.
The Independent states, “Monday’s alleged leak to the ICE List is believed to be the largest ever breach of department staff data.” As the website is hosted outside of the U.S., it cannot be taken down by the government.
ICE List Faces Cyberattack
On Jan. 13, ICE List faced a cyberattack. This attack came shortly after the owner of the website revealed intentions to publish PII of thousands of officers and agents.
The attack was reportedly a Direct Denial of Service (DDoS) attack and appeared to originate from Russia.
Attacks such as this will likely happen again, the owner acknowledged. However, measures have been put in place to try and protect against such incidents in the future.
