A survey collecting responses from more than 1,000 IT decision-makers across the United Kingdom and Ireland has found a majority of organizations (54%) do not have complete visibility into cloud spends. This lack of visibility makes accurate return on investment (ROI) measurements impossible; furthermore, only 33% of cloud projects achieve every goal.
According to the survey, legacy infrastructure remains a challenge. 71% report that outdated technology is holding the organization back, and among those depending on legacy systems, 70% think cloud migration would reduce costs. However, 46% report a notable barrier is management’s failure to prioritize cloud migration.
James Young, Head of Technical Solution Architecture at Ekco, comments, “Organizations are making substantial cloud investments, but without proper cost visibility and optimization, they’re essentially flying blind. The jump to 68% hybrid adoption shows businesses want more control and governance, but that comes with complexity — a challenge that lends itself to a ‘FinOps’ approach, bringing together internal engineering, finance and business teams to ensure smarter, and more accountable cloud spending.”
While organizations are experiencing infrastructure challenges, mindsets surrounding cloud tell a different story. 82% of organizations believe moving to cloud establishes a more agile culture, and 98% are considering movements to the cloud.
