In this episode of The Security Podcasts we sit down with Jerry Tavares, Executive Director of OSAC to talk a bit about OSAC’s mission and trends in the industry.
"We are incredibly honored and proud to be approaching that 40th anniversary and celebrating it from July through the end of the year at our annual briefing in November at Amazon headquarters. The 40th anniversary is a powerful moment for reflection," Tavares says. "OSAC was created in 1985 in the aftermath of the Beirut embassy bombings, when there was a clear need for stronger collaboration between the U.S. government and our many American organizations overseas. What started as a small Advisory Council has evolved into a global platform and partnership of more than 7,000 member organizations. We now support over 150 overseas country chapters and offer specialized working groups in everything from faith-based security, cybersecurity to aviation. This anniversary isn't just about looking back, it's about reaffirming OSAC's mission in an increasingly complex world, it's critically important we continue to provide safety and success for all U.S. interests abroad."
