The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has dismissed its advisory committees, including the Cyber Safety Review Board (CSRB). In a memorandum issued to members of the DHS advisory committees, the administration stated that termination of current membership is in alignment with the department’s commitment to end the misuse or resources and prioritize the focus on national security.

The CSRB’s purpose is to examine and assess cyber incidents, constructing recommendations for improved security within private and public sectors. It involves collaboration between the government and the private sector, and provides a direct avenue to advise the Secretary of Homeland Security and the President. The board was reportedly in the middle of investigating the Salt Typhoon hacking incident when the dismissal came.

At this time, it is unclear how these committees will be restructured; however, the memorandum asserts that dismissed members are welcome to submit reapplications for their posts.
