NAV and Altronix

October 15, 2007

“Security and surveillance are mission critical applications and require reliable and clean power solutions,” said Ron Freschi, director of large system sales at North American Video (NAV). “To meet these requirements, we depend on Altronix power supplies because of their uncompromised reliability and also because of the product’s field proven performance which maximizes the entire system’s reliability.”

For applications such as casinos, system reliability is paramount and Freschi notes that legislation in most states requires the gaming operations be shut down if the video surveillance is not operational. “We simply can’t take a chance and allow a faulty power supply to jeopardize system operations,” he said. “With Altronix, the reliability is built in and has been repeatedly proven over years of installing Altronix products in some of the biggest venues around the world.”

Freschi is also impressed with Altronix’s commitment to develop power solutions that keep pace with the changing face of the security industry. For instance, a new line of outdoor power supplies meets the need created by the trend to install video surveillance in remote locations, and the company’s HubWay Series of products provides centralized UTP video, RS422/RS-S485 data and distributed camera power over a single CAT-5 or higher cable for distances up to 1000 feet to help simplify CCTV installations.

Custom integration and design is a specialty of NAV and one of their most effective models is the integration of video surveillance and security systems with related systems such as access control, Point of Sale (POS) and alarm systems. According to Freschi, integrated systems provide security management with centralized control of these systems on the enterprise level.

“Using the Altronix rack mounted power supplies have also helped to improve cable management and reduce space requirements,” he said. “Additionally, Altronix also has one of the most comprehensive lines on the market and even if they don’t have exactly what we need, they work closely with our technical staff to deliver what we need.”

Founded in 1995, North American Video has become one of the security industry’s leading systems integrators to the gaming, education, healthcare, transportation, utilities, government, military, financial, retail and corporate markets. To support its rapidly growing systems integration and product sales operations, North American Video employs over 100 full time employees in offices located in New Jersey (headquarters), with regional offices in Las Vegas, New York, Washington, Mississippi and the most recent in Macau.
