Julie Anne Friend is the Director of the Office of Global Safety and Security at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She recently contributed three chapters to NAFSA’s Crisis Management for Education Abroad. Friend has a JD in Law and an MA in English from Michigan State University as well as a BS in Speech Communication from Syracuse University, and is licensed attorney in the state of Michigan.
