The 16th annual (Organized Retail Crime) ORC study released by the National Retail Federation found 75% of loss prevention executives at a cross-section of large and mid-sized retail companies said ORC activity had increased in the past year, up from 68% last year. 

A new survey from Genetec reveals that COVID-19 has led to a focus on security efforts to ensure the safety of people and facilities. For the majority of security professionals, the top three challenges during the pandemic are managing employee/visitor safety; dealing with physical security threats (e.g. vandalism, theft, break-ins, etc.); and the remote management and securing of buildings.

The battle for G4S, which might reach fruition this month, has been waged over a period of nearly three months and has numerous implications going forward for the companies involved and the guarding industry on the whole. If the acquisition moves forward, it would effectively cement Allied as, by far, the largest global security company. Based on revenue, Allied would be approximately 40% larger than its nearest competitor, Securitas. The approximate revenues for Allied from the G4S acquisition would total more than $18 billion, including any non-core services.
