Safe Schools Act signed into law by Georgia Governor

The Safe Schools Act, also known as HB 147, was signed into law in the state of Georgia. The act standardized emergency response training, including mandatory active shooter drills.
The act also provides training to teachers to help them recognize signs of potential danger within the classroom. In addition to the Safe Schools Act, two bills were signed to improve response and treatment to student medical emergencies.
HB 440 allows public and private schools to stock ready-to-use glucagon. This would allow school healthcare staff to respond to blood sugar drops of students with diabetes, even if the student doesn't have glucagon on hand.
HB 45 allows parents to submit seazure action plans to their child’s school and requires the Department of Education to develop and implement training guidelines and model seizure action plans for use by public schools and school systems.
