The borough of Vandergift, Pennsylvania, a town about 30 miles northeast of Pittsburgh, has installed video surveillance cameras at the city's Kennedy park. Kennedy park is a place where Vandergift hosts a range of events and festivals throughout the year. The park is equipped playground, three practice fields for baseball and football, tennis courts, a gazebo and a large stage.

Vandergrift officials approved the purchase and installation of security cameras earlier this year, which were installed throughout the park and put the area under 24/7 surveillance.

In an effort to deter and stop ongoing vandalism and littering, borough officials installed six video cameras on the stage building located next to a baseball field in the park and those have already come into use, allowing several minors to be identified damaging bricks on the stage.

Vandergift police will have round-the-clock access to the footage.
