Providing More Response Time: Tennessee Business Owner Installs 3M Security Film on Schools and Universities

Tennessee business owner Paul Shamiyeh wants to give parents peace of mind and emergency officials more time to respond to acts of school violence. This is why his business, Energy Control Consultants, Inc. has installed 3M™ Safety and Security Window Film on schools and universities throughout eastern Tennessee.

“One school security official told me he needs a minimum of one minute and 30 seconds to get all 900 students to a safe area,” Shamiyeh said. “I can help him do that with 3M™ Safety and Security Film.”

Shamiyeh recommends schools and businesses consider 3M™ Scotchshield™ Ultra Safety and Security Film, which provides a patented, co-extruded micro-layered and tear-resistant film over glass doors and windows to help increase security. The film is designed to secure glass fragments and prevent flying shards after impact, which protects both people and property.  The film, when combined with 3M™ Impact Protection Attachment Systems, can add up to two extra minutes to take shelter and for emergency officials time to arrive.

“3M’s Ultra 800 Series is far and above competitor films. The technology’s patented process is where it gets its strength and the other brands really can’t compete,” Shamiyeh said.

For more than 35 years, Energy Control Consultants has installed 3M™ Window Film on homes, commercial centers, retail shops and more. Shamiyeh became a partner with the company in 2002 and took over full ownership in 2017. During his time with the company, he has led the installation of security film on a variety of government buildings, including public recreation centers, federal courthouse buildings, schools and universities.  Energy Control Consultants recently was awarded a local school system project that calls for the installation of security film on 90 schools. The project will begin in September 2020.

When it comes to his customers, giving them only the best is most important to him, which is why he only offers 3M film solutions. “We feel, and we have always felt, that providing the best product is the most important,” he said.

Energy Control Consultants, Inc. is located just outside of Knoxville, Tennessee in Powell. As a 3M™ Certified and Premier Prestige Dealer, Shamiyeh’s professional installers have completed additional training and certification to demonstrate their knowledge and installation expertise in 3M’s window film products.
