Nominations Open for the 2020 Women in Biometrics Awards

biometrics
April 8, 2020

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2020 Women in Biometrics Awards, a globally-recognized program co-founded by the Security Industry Association (SIA) and SecureIDNews and co-presented with sponsors IDEMIA, Biometric Update and the SIA Women in Security Forum. The recipients of this year’s Women in Biometrics Awards will be honored at the 2020 SIA GovSummit, held June 2-3 in Washington, D.C.

"Biometric technologies are fundamental to securing physical and digital identities in today’s society and to helping protect our cities, businesses, schools and citizens,” said SIA CEO Don Erickson. “The innovative women recognized each year as Women in Biometrics award winners have made incredible advancements toward creating a more secure world through guiding this crucial technology market, and SIA looks forward to welcoming the next class of awardees to this elite group.”

The Women in Biometrics Awards recognize top female leaders in the biometric identity and security industry. Nominees and past winners include those working for biometric companies, peripheral suppliers, system integrators, academia, government and security and IT departments at a variety of organizations in the United States and internationally.

Each nominee should exemplify one or more of the following contributions to the industry:

  • Leadership: Substantive and defining leadership in academic, public awareness, legislative and/or standards efforts
  • Participation: Efforts that go above and beyond individual company walls and into the larger identity sphere
  • Innovation: Pioneering product development, innovation or corporate startup efforts
  • Mentoring: Industry involvement sharing expertise and mentoring peers, thus growing the market

“IDEMIA has been an enthusiastic sponsor of the Women in Biometrics Awards since 2015, and we are proud to have many highly-skilled and deserving women at IDEMIA selected to represent the industry over the years,” said Ed Casey, chief executive officer of IDEMIA’s business in North America. “IDEMIA wouldn’t be the technology leader it is today without the women on our team and women everywhere working to advance the science of biometrics. They inform, inspire and encourage us. We are honored to partner with SIA and SecureIDNews to recognize their contributions.”

Nominations for the 2020 Women in Biometrics Awards program will be accepted until April 24. A jury comprised of previous award winners will select this year’s award recipients. Learn more and submit a nomination for the 2020 award program at womeninbiometrics.com.

Award winners will be recognized alongside other distinguished security industry leaders during the SIA GovSummit, the annual government security conference held by SIA. SIA GovSummit brings together government security leaders and private industry technologists for top-quality information sharing and education on cutting-edge security topics affecting federal, state and even local agencies. This year’s GovSummit will be held June 2-3 at the National Association of Home Builders headquarters in Washington, D.C. Learn more about the 2020 conference – including key topics and speakers and hotel and travel information – and register at securityindustry.org/summit.
