The first west coast Security 500 took place in Palo Alto with more than 100 registered guests, an outstanding speaker line-up and valuable networking opportunities. Thanks to the generous support of G4S, the events leading sponsor, Security magazine was able to produce the conference in this new venue for the first time.

Mark McCourt, Publisher, Security magazine hosted the event which kicked off with a luncheon and keynote presentation and concluded with a networking reception. Patrick Heim, Chief Trust Officer, SFDC (most recently known as Salesforce dot com) presented his keynote, “Trust: Thinking Beyond Security” and focused on an organization’s responsibility to protect stakeholders, including the private information they entrust to your organization.

Mr. Heim’s well received keynote was followed by two critical issue panels. The first focused on “Using Enterprise Risk Management to Ensure Resilience.” Participants who shared best practices and ideas included Phil Hoffman of Kaiser Permanente, Mike Howard of Microsoft, Jana Monroe of Southern California Edison and Ty Richmond of Sony Pictures Entertainment.

“United People, Processes and Technology for Situational Awareness” was the second panel. Thought leaders including Phil Hopkins of Western Union, Brian Katz of Google and Duane Ritter of Cox Enterprises shared case studies on how their organizations have increased situational awareness by leveraging their service, partnership and technology requirements.

Attendees included CSOs from leading west coast organizations representing industry, business, healthcare, education and utility sectors. The event received many compliment s and positive feedback from attendees including one attendees’ note:

It was truly refreshing for me to network and hear from other security professionals. This session allowed me to make more contacts in a single day than I have made in my 3 years in the industry.  The presentations were refreshing, insightful and inspirational. Your seminar was top notch and first class all the way.  I just wanted to say thank you!

In addition to G4S, sponsors included Video IQ, EMC and Verint. “The Security 500 is the leading event for bringing CSOs from major organizations together to discuss solutions for managing risk and security. We are pleased to partner with Security magazine and sponsor the Security 500. It is truly a valuable and important program,” said Drew Levine, President, G4S.

Details on our sixth annual Security 500 in New York City on November 1 will be forthcoming.
