FKI Logistex has been awarded a contract from Schenker AB, an international provider of air, sea freight and logistics services, for a parcel sorting system at its distribution center in Stockholm, Sweden. The new project will be the first in Sweden between Schenker AB and FKI Logistex.
The contract revamps the material handling system in the Stockholm distribution center following an operational review by a Schenker AB team, which found the center’s existing inbound and outbound sorting systems had reached capacity and were demanding excessive labor resources. A high-speed tilt-tray sorting system features several induction units and spiral chutes, which will improve the center’s speed, accuracy and labor productivity.
