Social Engineering Scheme Led to Apollo Data Breach

Asset management firm Apollo Global Management revealed it experienced a data breach due to a social engineering attack. This incident affected sensitive, personally identifiable information (PII), including:
- Names
- Birth dates
- Home addresses
- Contact information
- Social Security Numbers (SSN)
At this time, the organization has no evidence to suggest the information has been misused; however, the investigation remains ongoing.
The investigation was launched after a social engineering attack was detected. With the support of law enforcement and external cybersecurity and forensics experts, it was determined that an unauthorized user had access to certain cloud platforms from July 6 to July 10, 2026.
