The School for Professional Studies Criminal Justice and Security Management Program will present its fourth annual Panel Discussion, titled "Workplace Violence: Mitigating the Threat," from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 7, in rooms 170 and 171 of Busch Student Center. Complimentary cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be served. Registration for this event can be completed online. Every year, more than 572,000 Americans fall victim to Workplace Violence. Defined by the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) as any physical assault, threatening behavior or verbal abuse occurring in the work setting, Workplace Violence is one of the leading causes of job-related deaths. This year's panel of workplace violence and threat management experts will discuss the key elements of Boeing's innovative Threat Management Program, the true impact of Workplace Violence, and how to prepare yourself and your company to handle it. The discussion will be facilitated by Roland Corvington, assistant vice president and director of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, and panel members will include David Bixler and Christina Holbrook, program leaders of Enterprise Threat Management with the Boeing Company; Major Donovan Kenton, deputy chief of Operations with the St. Charles Police Department; and William Naughton, senior manager of Security and Fire Protection with the Boeing Company — Midwest/East Region. Continuing legal education credits will be available through the School of Law and POST Certified in conjunction with the Saint Louis Police Academy. For additional event information contact Hadley Kombrink with Criminal Justice and Security Management at hkombrin@slu.edu. This event is sponsored by the Boeing Company, Peabody Energy, Citadel Security Services, Whelan Security, the Criminal Justice and Security Management Program, the School of Law and the SPS Alumni Association.
