66-page Report FREE: Breaches Investigation Study Suggests Many Could Have Been Stopped
New
data suggests that many of the industry's largest and most recent data breaches
were not only preventable – they could have easily been spotted with the naked
eye. Consider the following from Verizon Business' latest Data Breach
Investigations Report, published just a few weeks ago:
• 61 percent of the breaches were
discovered not by the victim company, but by a third party outside the company.
• 86 percent of the victims had
evidence of the breach in their log files-- but most of them did not detect the
breaches for months.
• Nearly 90 percent of the breaches
required *no* sophisticated forensics tools to investigate – the compromises
could have been spotted easily with a simple review of the log data.
