Situational Awareness – The New Buzz Phrase

A partnership between Total Security Services International and GeoDecisions shows how situational awareness translates into new-age emergency response services.

As part of this agreement, GeoDecisions will provide geospatial services to support joint activities.  Services may include, but are not limited to the deployment, customization, and support of GeoDecisions' IRRIS technology and its various derivatives.

IRRIS is a geospatial Web portal for situational awareness, transportation security, logistics, incident management, and data sharing. IRRIS integrates and displays information about critical infrastructure, live vehicle tracking, near-real-time weather, location-based services, and active route conditions. Various federal and state agencies, including the U.S. Department of Defense and homeland security agencies, use the framework to share information, visual assets, and increase inter-agency collaboration. IRRIS also provides a common operating picture of critical infrastructure, along with alerts and notifications, to effectively serve as a uniform, information management tool to assist in day-to-day operations and crisis or emergency situations.
