HID Global Launches the Fargo HDP5000 Card Identity System

April 2, 2008

From ISC, HID Global, providing solutions for the delivery of secure identity, today announced the introduction of the Fargo HDP5000 card identity system at the ISC West International Security Conference and Exposition. The system includes the hardware, software and materials needed to create secure, professional ID cards with superior print quality using retransfer technology. The HDP5000 system joins HID’s suite of Fargo all-in-one systems that also includes the DTC550 and the DTC400 card printing systems.

“By integrating a complete system around Fargo’s exclusive High Definition Printing technology, we’re offering the highest print quality for technology-based ID cards in concert with fully compatible components. It’s perfect for customers who want HDP printing and the ease of set up and operation of a system.” said Alan Fontanella, vice president of market strategies for HID Global’s secure issuance business.

At the heart of this new system is the Fargo HDP5000 card printer/encoder, based on patented High Definition Printing technology. By printing a reverse image on the underside of HDP Film, then fusing the film to the card surface, the HDP5000 creates an image that looks more like a crisp glossy photo than an ordinary ID badge. And because the printhead never comes into contact with the card surface, the image quality is never compromised by surface or embedded electronics. Likewise, the smart chips or antennas are unaffected by the heat of the printhead.

The HDP5000 Card Identity System gives you everything you need to start producing High Definition cards fast:

HDP5000 High Definition Printer

Asure ID® ExpressTM Photo ID software

USB digital camera

Image capture software

HDP® Film

Full-color ribbon with cleaning roller

500 UltraCard® III PVC cards

USB 2.0 cable

It includes a two-year printer warranty, a lifetime printhead warranty and one year of free Asure ID software technical support.

The system's modular design allows users to add components as needed. An optional encoding module provides up to three different encoding technologies to add functionality to cards. Additional modules for dual-sided printing and lamination provide even greater opportunities to upgrade card durability and security.

The HDP5000 system is designed for a variety of applications that need the ultimate in security and superior print quality: colleges and universities, health care facilities, state and federal governments and large corporations.

The HDP5000 system is available for a retail price of $4995. For more information, visit www.fargo.com
