The University of Chicago will expand its security guard presence and offer new transit options for students, staff and faculty in the neighborhood to enhance safety and security within the community.

The federal security grant, which totals just over $1 million will be used to bolster protection against cyber threats, upgrade the port’s wireless security network and complete a perimeter fencing project.
