The Gold-Burg Independent School District has voted to arm its school teachers. The proposal will now be sent to the Texas Association of School Boards for review.

On December 13th 2013, a school shooting took place at Arapahoe High School in Littleton Colorado. Guy Grace, Director of Security and Emergency Planning Littleton Public Schools, was a responder to the shooting and was the On-Scene School District Incident Command Coordinator during the event and the subsequent evacuation of the school.
In the early hours of November 2014, a gunman walked into a crowded library on the campus of Florida State University and shot three students before being killed by police. At the time of the shooting the library was crowded, with about 600 students inside, so many lives were saved.
