Securing a large university: IIT Delhi

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is a public technical university with a main campus of 325 acres, supporting over 8,700 students.

The size of the university presented a challenge to its security department, which, up until recently, only employed a physical solution to protect students and IIT Delhi's assets. Security guards were responsible for patrolling campus, maintaining student safety and monitoring residence halls, laboratories, classrooms and other university facilities.

To solve this issue, IIT Delhi has implemented an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered video management system from Videonetics. Deploying around 300 surveillance cameras, the university security team can now monitor campus incidents remotely using video management software.
