The Martin County School District in Florida upgraded its emergency communications system. Frank Frangella director of safety and security for the school district told local new the district is using Centegix CrisisAlert. Teachers and administrators use a card attached to their lanyards similar to a credit card. When repeatedly clicked, the cards issues an emergency alert, which cues sirens, flashing lights and communications over the speakers such as "This is a lockdown."

The button also sends an alert not just to the school district and school resource officer, but also to every police officer in the area. In addition to emergency communications, the districts new security system allows staff and administrators to sound alarms for other events such as weather emergencies.
