President Donald Trump announced that the United States will issue a travel restriction between the US and Europe for 30 days.

During an Oval Office address, President Trump said that the travel restriction is due to efforts to control the spread of coronavirus in the US. The ban will not apply to travel to and from the United Kingdom.  Exceptions will be made for Americans who undergo proper screening.

“The European Union failed to take the same precautions and restrict travel from China and other hotspots,” President Trump said. “As a result, a large number of new clusters in the United States were seeded by travelers from Europe." He added, "These prohibitions will not only apply to the tremendous amount of trade and cargo, but various other things as we get approval."
