The Security Executive Council has released “The Nine Practices of the Successful Security Leader,” an 8-page report available for free download on the Council Web site.

During a series of in-depth practitioner interviews, the Security Executive Council asked security executives about their top organizational risks, business alignment and drivers, internal influence issues, and senior management's view of Security. The resulting qualitative analysis uncovered nine practices that the interviewees with highly successful, internally recognized security programs had in common.

“The Nine Practices of the Successful Security Leader” can be used by practitioners to assess whether their program conforms to these practices. ”Building on the experience of others is a good way to learn," says Kathleen Kotwica, Chief Knowledge Strategist for the Council. "This report provides that kind of insight to those who want to create an industry-recognized, successful program in their organization."
